This way to everything K100...... | |
| Here is the first phase of the goodies for you all. A couple of notes, whilst we await the Multiply fix for the larger image views (that will have more information on each entry). Firstly, thank god for E-bay ! Next up, the thing I love about this truck is the fact that basically the design never changed substantially since its inception - the cab got longer, they added different grab rails, changed the headlight sections here and there and eventually went skyward with the Aerodyne, but the basic truck remained relatively consistent throughout. Just look at '1967 K100 Brochure 2.jpg' which I truly believe is one of the finest KW photographs ever taken - just a stunning shot which I am working on enlarging to a lovely poster size (or as big as will allow with resolution). This truck is 1967 - relatively sparse but all the proportions and design elements are there. Due to how large this section is to grow - I have omitted some pages that have nothing particularly interesting on them or have been repeated in other brochures. One example are the build-it brochures - note the uploaded 1972 version doesn't seem to contain much, that's because the stages of assembly pictures are the same as the 1969 Built-it brochure. The 1978 brown cover K100 brochure is the most well known piece of literature I would say. David/Gtmaker and I nicknamed it 'The Borcher Brochure' as the photo '1978 Borcher Brochure 3.jpg' is again, a truly amazing photograph of a beautiful truck driven by owner operator Mr. Borcher - this was our benchmark reference photo when we were just kids. The text reads, "I've been driving for 20 years and man, if they quit making Kenworths, I'd quit trucking." I think Mr. C.F. Borcher is our kind of guy. More to come, much more.... | Hello all, Just posted - 1974 VIT Brochure. This features two of the best interior photos of any of the factory brochures. Lovely period Salem of course, even with the lower section red instead of the usual white. Paul. |
| Just posted ! Hello everyone, here's a brochure from 1981 - The Kenworth Family. You forget how many industry firsts KW were responsible for and the list of these accomplishments detailed on the first page is quite impressive. I am a big fan of metallic paint schemes, the subtle curves especially on the Aerodyne roof section become more present, and this brochure has a great picture of a silver Aero with the ribbon paint scheme. Paul. |
| Just posted ! Hello everyone - here's the March/April 1978 issue of the factory publication Class 8. It has a nice description of how efficient the air flow becomes with the Aerodyne roof but let's be honest.......less drag between the tractor and trailer over the roof line is fine, but our favourite truck is still as aerodynamic as 3 sheets of 8 x 4ft plywood thundering down the road vertically.... Paul. |
 | 78kw wrote on Mar 21, '09 Thank you for taking the time to share these. |
 | 78kw wrote on Mar 22, '09 The only other time I ever saw one painted like this without the white at the bottom was in the movie High Ballin with Jerry Reed. Same colors but 86" cab and spoke-type drive wheels. Thanks for sharing these. I enjoy looking at them. |
| Just posted ! 1972 Kenworth Parts Catalog. Hello everyone, aside of the brochures detailing specific models, we have several technical cut sheets, engine detail pamphlets amongst other items that will be added. This includes Kenworth Parts and Accessories Catalogs from several years. For the time being, we'll post the cover page and any interesting pages within rather than post multiple pages of bearing and seal part numbers....... It's interesting to see the changes over the years, this 1972 catalog showing the old style grille badge and the seat upholstery which can only be early 70's !
Thanks 78kw for your comments - glad you like the brochure collection.
Paul. |
 | would love to get a pair of those seat`s, |
 | Great photo's, thanks for posting them. I especially like the 74 VIT brochure. That red interior is just too cool... |
| Just Posted ! 1980 Kenworth Parts Catalog. Remind me to stop by the Kenworth dealer and pick up one of those spare Aerodyne cabs..... You wish. Paul. |
| Just posted - 1977 KW Class 8 Publication. This was the first issue of the factory-published Class 8 magazine and replaced the smaller KW News brochure of previous years. This particular photo is just stunning........ Paul. |
| Just added ! The first introductory advertisement of the COE-100 from January 1964 - look familiar ? Paul. |
 | isnt it possible this is the truck from b.j and the bear 18 wheel rip off?right color, interior is correct.kw probably loaned it under the premise it didnt get destroyed. |
 | love this paint job. just joined the group. looking for a owner manual for a 1981 aerodyne k100 e |
| Hi hollywood1981, Welcome to the group. Shop manuals and operator manuals come up on E-bay quite often, it's well worth keeping a look out. I'm guessing by your username - are you in the Los Angeles area? Paul. |
 | Thank you for taking the time to put this material on the site. I'm currently doing a restoration on a 1969 W-900, been trying to find some original low back air-seats and found some info which may be very helpful. Thanks again. Stay well. ~John |
| Hello John, Thanks for your message, I'm happy to hear you found some useful information here on the site. Good luck with your restoration. Paul. |
| Just posted ! Hello all, Here's a KW Class 8 magazine from 1980 - this one features the K100 fleet operated by Steel Case. Be sure to check out page 5 which shows more K100s than you can count. Also a nice poster center spread too. Paul. |
| Just Posted ! 1978 Class 8 Magazine May/June. Here's a rare advertising picture - Paccar was using this style of ad for Peterbilt at the time and thought they try it with KW but was short lived. Paul. |
 | nice picture, foden used the same idea in the 80`s .the black looks nice when it is done right.Paul we need more photos of your k100 . |
| Hi John, Yes I remember those UK Foden ads too. One ad I had but got lost over the years is the first British KW distributor ad from Dando's Motor Services in Chipping Sodbury. The ad was black & white and ran in Commercial Motor for a couple of months in 1982, it showed a white 108" Aerodyne and aside from the phone number, the only text was, "Kenworth - The Alternatives seem hopelessly outdated." A broad statement what with the comforts of the newly released Volvo F12s and Scania 142s etc of the day. I was checking out an Freightshaker Argosy the other day - it has the same comforts that the DAF 3200 had 18 years ago.....aside from driver comfort and ease of driving them, nothing looked like a K100 ! There'll be more pics of my restoration shortly, working hard on the real job to pay for the final uphill restoration battle ! Paul |
| Just posted ! 1979 Class 8 Leaflet........ This cover picture is quite unique - an 86" with probably a special customer requested paint scheme. This particular photo has a very surreal look to it, almost as if it is a model....... Paul.
|
| Twin 1979 86" Aerodynes - there's something odd about seeing an Aero without a gullwing bumper......at least she has some Aerodyne headroom for her hair do. Paul. |
| Just posted ! 1981 Class 8 Leaflet........ You can't beat the side profile view of a 108" Aerodyne.....there sure is nothing else like it. The cover shot of this leaflet (previous image) is a great moving on the road shot, very sharp looking K100. Paul. |
| Just posted ! 1975 Kenworth Parts Catalog........ If only we would have visited the KW parts dealer years ago and bought everything we now need for our restorations....at least there's Ebay. You can still get pedal rubbers and most of the shifter boots are available after market but that K100 steering column/floor seal (K042-48) can be tricky. Call your local KW dealer and see if he has one that's been on the shelf for the last 15 years..... Paul. |
| Just added ! 1979 Class 8 article - how about winning a free '86 Aerodyne ? I don't think KW give them away anymore...... Paul. |
| Just posted ! 1982 Kenworth Splendor Interior Brochure. What a great interior shot, you can't beat a K100 interior. Paul. |
 | this is the paint & color scheme to the letter my #1000 australian kw had factory.the colors are dandy yellow, rex blue & goodyear blue.see my photos for a image.shame its only a 76' cab |
 | Nice collection, Paul.I have many of those pieces in my collection. Many from Seattle HQ's,when I was a kid in the 70's.The dealers and factories were really good to us.Smart on their part. Many of us chose this profession and bought their trucks! |
 | This has a V12 Detroit in it.Factory twin breathers. |
| Hi 70k125, Thanks for your message. Back then I never really considered the long term effect of manufacturers sending brochures to kids like us....I certainly wasn't in the market professionally for a semi at age 8 ! I clearly recall the day when that white envelope with the hand typed Kenworth address label turned up on my doorstep in England...it was always a big deal to get a letter in the mail as a kid...then the novelty wore off in later years, mortgage, insurance, taxes...the mail just isn't much fun anymore. Even though it was built 30 years ago eventually I did buy a Kenworth. I am sure they were considering a shorter purchase time than 30 years but oh well, now we are preserving their history instead which is possibly more valuable. Paul. |
| Just added - 1976 K100 Spec Sheet. Not a particularly glamorous piece of advertising literature in appearance to say the least, though a classic period piece showing a classic factory paint scheme. Even though it is a black & white photo you just know it is black, green with gold pin striping ! Paul. |
 | why can't i read this microscopic jpg? |
 | do i need to join to open these? Thank you |

 | john8t4 wrote on May 28, '11, edited on May 28, '11 Could anyone tell me what the paint scheme looks like on the front of the 1977 VIT Brochure Photo?
|
 | Love the brochures! Can anyone tell me when KW offered the handrails and steps on the side of the cabs like the ones in the 1972 brochure?
Thanks
Ricky Keil Bellevue, NE |
 | Hi Ricky, those style grab handles/steps are no longer offered, the only ones they may offer if they even have them in stock anymore will be the E-Model style. Which were 1985, and on. |
 | Al Segrini Super Brut NHRA& IHRA Funny Car Team hauler saw this in person @ Bristo TN & Darlington SC in 1983 ..Awesome!!! |
